A chat with Noelle Cockett about life lessons learned leading up to her position as President of Utah State University. We talk about her childhood, her family life balance as a president, how she starts her day, and succulents.
Noelle E. Cockett became Utah State University’s 16th president in January 2017. Cockett has built a distinguished career in sheep genomics research, maintaining an active research program even while serving in various leadership positions at USU. Her research program has centered on the identification of genetic markers associated with economically important traits in sheep, as well as the development of resources that advance research on the sheep genome. Cockett grew up on a beef cattle ranch in eastern Montana and is married to John Cockett, AVP of Central Development in University Advancement and director of technology in USU’s Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. Noelle and John have two children, Dylan and Chantelle.

Michael is also Vice President of UNICEF in the UK and President of Zane - a Zimbabwe Aid Charity - as well as serving as a Governor of the Vodafone supported MPESA Academy School in Nairobi Academy for 850 of Kenya's poorest children.

Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate students and co-hosts The World’s Principled Leaders Series. He is founding vice chairman of the Huntsman School’s Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center and serves on the School’s National Advisory Board. For 23 years, Boyd ran Dr. Covey’s global leadership consulting business, was his chief collaborating partner in writing and publishing ten books on leadership, and was Franklin Covey’s vice president of higher education.
