Episode 10 of Beastlore is about the caduceus and the ouroboros, the intertwined serpent staff and the tail-eating dragon and their role in alchemy and the western esoteric tradition. Host Jack Daly shares his knowledge of this subject, which constitutes his master's thesis research. The caduceus and the ouroboros come to represent the union of opposites, the hieros gamos, which is in one respect the union of the human with the divine. Topics such as Pharaonic headdresses, Mesoamerican mythology, Jungian psychology, Peruvian shamanism and Taoism are explored in respect to their connection to the union of opposites and serpent worship are covered. Sit back and relax perhaps the best Beastlore episode to date.
