Beastlore Episode 4: Legacy of the Vampire

Episode 4 of Beastlore is about vampires. Host Jack Daly traces the history of vampires, and explains how beliefs about vampires originated in Eastern Europe through the traditions of strigoi, shtriga, vrykolakas and revenants. Beastlore Episode 3: Mothman Prophecies

Episode 3 of Beastlore is about mothman. Host Jack Daly takes the listener through the story of mothman which was sighted hundreds of times over a 13 month span during the 1960s in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. This string of sightings culminated in the collapse of the Silver Bridge which is the most devastating bridge collapse in U.S. history. The story of mothman is not just solely confined to the winged creature, however, as John Keel, a UFOlogist present for the whole saga explains in his book The Mothman Prophecies that Point Pleasant was also host to Men in Black, UFOs, and extraterrestrial entities at the same time as mothman.

Beastlore Episode 2: Theories of Bigfoot

Episode 2 of Beastlore is about the theories that have been put forth to explain what Bigfoot is. Host Jack Daly explains this wide spectrum of belief, which includes the theories that Bigfoot is a remnant of Gigantopithecus which is an ancient giant ape which is believed to be extinct, that Bigfoot is a hominin, that Bigfoot is related to the Nephilim giants from the Bible, and that Bigfoot is able to access the quantum level of reality which might explain some of the supernatural abilities they are reported to exhibit.

The first episode of Beastlore is about the history of werewolves. Host Jack Daly tracks the historical development of beliefs in werewolves which spans from ancient accounts of Herodotus, the ancient myths of Ovid, Medieval fears of the devil and witchcraft, Early Modern and Renaissance trials against alleged werewolves and into the modern day where werewolves have become a staple of popular culture. Beastlore is a podcast about monsters and cryptid creatures from folklore spanning the globe, and this first episode is a fascinating listen.
